“Expansive and divine track… Valie. combines a romantic ethos with glitchy electronica that makes for a Portishead meets Feist meets Charlotte Gainsbourg.” – Glide |
Vancouver-based musician Valie. shares “Art,” a hauntingly beautiful love ballad written in French. Glide premiered the track and praised how Valie “combines a romantic ethos with glitchy electronica that makes for a Portishead meets Feist meets Charlotte Gainsbourg.” Partially written when Valie was 15 years old and still in the Seychelles, she and producer Ali Suleman decided to revisit “Art” and elevate it into an 80s inspired drum machine groove mixed with a contemporary French ballad. This is the first song Valie is releasing in French, a language that has always inspired her and that she is so excited to be creating music in. It is a romantic piece comparing love and beauty to, you guessed it, Art. |
Artist Bio: Growing up around the world, Valie’s music is heavily influenced by the ocean, something she says has been a constant in her life. Her music is heavily reliant on her Indian Ocean experience in the Seychelles islands, where she spent most of her younger years, the people she met there. She’s a Canadian, Creole, English, French and Greek mix, which she hopes to mirror in her music. A lot of her songs stem from a fictional imagination, most of them touch real-life experiences too. Currently based in Vancouver, Valie continues exploring the North American and International music scene, whether virtually or, very soon once again in person! |
